A FRAGILE ECOSYSTEM: THE ROLE OF ARTS AND CULTURE IN PHILADELPHIA’S MANTUA, POWELTON VILLAGE AND WEST POWELTON NEIGHBORHOODS
As a member of the core research team for a project led by three professors at the Drexel University Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts and Design, I executed research activities to help assess the role of arts and culture in shaping West Philadelphia. Highlights include conducting fieldwork, scoping the neighborhoods. I supported my fieldwork with software such as CultureBlocks and PolicyMaps, and conducted additional demographic analysis with Excel. I also helped in constructing the surveys for West Philadelphia residents, and interviewed 74 West Philadelphia residents on their thoughts on arts and culture opportunities in the area. I interpreted the results of the surveys I conducted, starting to codify the results.

I conducted social media data analysis and visualization for clients that use the Boston University College of Communication's data lab using TCAT, Excel, Stata, and Gephi. By generating actionable insights from data, I helped media client NECIR optiize breaking news stories and grow 1,000+ social media followers by identifying key topic influencers and online networks. Besides scoping and executing client projects, I also edited a manuscript published in the International Journal of Communication, "Anti-Austerity in the Euro Crisis."
